Ex-Townsvillian, Ben Doyle, has loved the art of DJing from a young age. From manipulating the music to manipulating the dance floor he left Townsville for bigger & better things down south, first moving to the Gold Coast before relocating to Brisbane where he is concentrating on making music of his own...
...At a young
age I loved the way that DJ’s could manipulate music and
dance floors. I always had a keen passion for music, drumming through
my early days. When I was introduced to a pair of Technics 1200s I was
hooked, I started collecting vinyl before I even owned decks.
I started mixing/scratching in around early 2002, playing around with
my new found love for music and the technical aspects of sound. I used
to love cutting and sampling beats for the breakdance crew I was in
(Lethal Techniques).
It all took a sharp upturn when I moved to Melbourne in 2004 and saw
some of the best really rip it up. I was the one hassling the DJ’s for
track names and tips (thanks LCK). It inspired me to explore different
styles, Hardstyle and the Melbourne shuffle being some of the
drawcards that quickly drew me in.
After some time in North Queensland and a short stay on the Gold Coast
I finally moved to Brisbane, to a scene that is small but contains a
good mix of styles and personalities.
These days i find that i have really started focusing on my music
production. I find it hard to focus too much on one sound, I like to
make music inspired by the thoughts I have at that time. One day I
hope to have a large palette of self made music, to play large
sets/journeys.
My music style can vary from melodic/progressive house all the up to
deep driving Hardstyle. My main goal is to be different, and to be
myself. I want each of my mixes and tracks to represent my unique
sound.
